TCP/UDP Mailbox Gateway

UDP/TCP Mailbox Gateway feature allows configuring a device by using a vendor’s tool through the KPA EtherCAT Master without another physical network connection.

Previously, OEM vendors provided tools to configure their devices (i.e. firmware update) which required a separate network connection on the device. Using TCP/UDP Mailbox Gateway, one can configure and/or update its device using the same EtherCAT network connection without a need for any additional wiring. The EtherCAT Master provides a virtual connection between Tool and Device via TCP/UDP Mailbox Gateway, hence eliminating need for extra physical network connections and saving valuable time.

Example above shows that a dedicated connection between the configuration tool and device is no longer needed.
